Department of General Medicine
Department of Internal Medicine plays a pivotal role in the academic and health care services like any other tertiary level medical institution, requiring investigation, diagnosis and management at both outpatient and inpatient facilities.
Department also cater to the emergency medical services of the hospital through Casuality and medical intensive care units.
Internal medicine department is one of the broad medical specialties where undergraduate and post graduate training in clinical medicine is undergoing with services seeking from other super specialties like Neurology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastro medicine, Psychiatry, respiratory medicine and dermatology.
So the medical problems are well unfolded to the young budding graduates and postgraduates in a scientific way, under the guidance of well experienced clinicians.
RESEARCH
The Department of Internal Medicine at PKDIMS is envisioned to foster Research activity by adopting a multidisciplinary approach. Department is aiming at exploring the epidemiological and pathophysiological aspects of various medical disorders using the state of are techniques available at the central research labs.
WHO HEADS
Department of Internal medicine at PKDIMS is headed by clinician Prof. Dr. Manohar R Graduated from TDMC Alappuzha in 1987 and Postgraduation in MD (General Medicine) in 1995 from JNMC Belgam. Started working as assistant prof in AIMS Kochi in 2002. Became professor in 2011. resigned in 2015 October. Joined as Professor in Medicine DMWIMS Wayanad (worked there for 1 Year) 2019-2020. Worked as professor in General Medicine from 2020-2022 September at MOSC Kolanchery.

At the end of the course the student shall be able to:

The medical rating is calculating based in the functionality and individual branches performances, but mostly its review and feed backs are to be considered for getting better rating. The medical council will evaluate all the aspects of services and facilities to ensure the quality of education to students.

Out Patient Department
The outpatient facilities includes well furnished, comfortable waiting areas for the patients. The reception team takes care of the patients till they receive the consultation. There are 04 examination rooms for patients and one demonstration room for students. In addition there is separate ECG room and 2 injection rooms.
In Patient Service
Round the clock service of senior consultants available for the in patients. Well-furnished general wards separately for males and females, along with well-furnished private rooms. All basic facilities like Examination room, Treatment room, ward Pantry, and storerooms are available. Clinical demonstration rooms for students and well-furnished rooms for Resident doctors are attached to each ward. A separate accommodation facility is available for all faculties inside the department.
Free Medical Camps
We conduct free medical camps in rural areas regularly detect undiagnosed and rare cases to help the community and an exposure to the young budding doctors.
