P K Das Institute of Medical Sciences is a healthcare initiative by the Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust. The Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust functioning since 1968 under the authorship of Late P K Das, a renowned chartered engineer, eminent academician, industrialist and a philanthropist with the aim to bring in state of the art standards in the field of higher education both professional and non – professional.
Under his able stewardship, the Educational Institutions established by the Trust blossomed in to centers of excellence in their respective fields. They are now the bench mark Institutions in their categories.
THE PROMOTING BODY
Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust, established at an auspicious moment in the year 1968, with the primary objective of rendering selfless, dedicated and yeomen service to cause of higher education originally in the field of Aeronautical Engineering and subsequently in the field of rest of engineering branches, Management, Arts, Science, and Paramedical Sciences and has added feather after feather to its Cap. Its educational service to the poor underprivileged and downtrodden in the society is freely accessed and widely appreciated by the people, especially from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Over the period of nearly four decades, it has established and patronized a number of prestigious Educational Institutions, all of which have grown to the stature of being accredited with ISO 9001:2000 certification by the International Certification Services. The Trust headquartered at Coimbatore has spread its wings to the neighboring Kerala State too by establishing Educational Institutions of high reputation.

The Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust was headed by Late P.K. Das, F.I.E., F.I. Mech. E., M.S. Engg., A.F.R.Ae.S. (London), C.Engg., Managing Trustee & Founder Chairman, who is a well known educationist with rich experience in meticulously planning in establishing and marvelously administering educational institutions. He is a great industrialist with overwhelming spirit of entrepreneurship and excellent business acumen – who is a philanthropist with utmost care and concern for the fellow human beings, suppressed and suffering – who is in nutshell humane in all his approaches.
The Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust is headed by Adv. Dr. P. Krishna Das, Management Trustee, Dr. P. Krishnakumar – CEO & Secretary, Dr. P. Thulasi a Trustee beyond few more members.

The Founder
Whenever we hear the name of Nehru College, immediately the name of our Founder Chairman late P.K. Das comes to our mind. Our Chairman’s name is synonymous with Nehru Colleges which stand as Hall Mark of Quality in the field of Higher Education.
Starting from scratch in 1968, this great leader, spent each ounce of his energy and sweat to establish 12 prestigious institutions in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Through his hard toil, sweat, firm determination and strict self discipline, he established Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences at Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore. Besides this college, he established four engineering colleges, one Arts & Science college, one Pharmacy College, one Aviation Institute and one Super Specialty Hospital and three Management Colleges in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He was hardly 29 years of age in 1968, when he started his career as an Academician at Coimbatore.
The meteoric rise of this great personality in the field of technical and higher education was phenomenal and great. A humble beginning was made despite innumerable difficulties and insurmountable obstacles he had to face with, he didn’t budge an inch, but forged ahead with firm determination and iron will, to accomplish success after success. Year after year, he was reaping rich dividends and accolades. He was standing like Colossus. The flag ship institution namely Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences, has emerged as a unique institution this country. This college is the only one with so many specializations in Aeronautical Maintenance Engineering. In the field of Applied Sciences, several branches for B.Sc. degree courses in Aeronautical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Avionics and MBA in Air Line and Airport Management were started there. The quality maintained here speaks volumes about the Founder Chairman late P.K. Das.
He added golden feather to his cap, by starting a huge and prestigious Nehru College of Arts and Science in a new campus at Thirumalayampalayam. There are two Engineering Colleges at Thirumalayampalayam and Kaliapuram, in the outskirts of Coimbatore. He started Nehru College of Engineering and Research Center and Nehru College of Pharmacy at Pambady in Kerala. In the year 2008, he started Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology and in 2010 Jawaharlal Aviation Institute was also started at Lakkidi. A Super Specialty Hospital named as P.K. Das Institute of Medical Sciences has been established at Vaniamkulam. All these have been conceived and nurtured under his close supervision. The efficient functioning and quality maintained in these institutions are testimonies to his diligence, greatness and success.
Though he left us, in the year 2009, he has groomed his sons Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas, the present Chairman and Managing Trustee and Dr. P. Krishnakumar, CEO & Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions at Coimbatore into successful academicians and administrators. They have taken over the reins of administration of these institutions in an admirable manner. The Chairman had foreseen the birth of a great University in the name of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The might and strength of our beloved Chairman are etched deeply and are eloquently evident from the functioning of these institutions. He was a simple, humble, noble and straight forward person, with aristocratic behavioral traits. He was a tall, handsome and commanding personality not only physically, but also intellectually and behaviorally.
