Medical institutions in Kerala have a central pivotal role in the attainment and maintenance of the magical demographic indices of the state. They also should be the centres of excellence in the medical education arena. I personally feel that the existing system in our medical colleges is not fully equipped for moulding our graduates and postgraduates to analyse andaddress thereal health problems of our society with an inquisitive mind as a medical researcher. So it is the need of the hour to have such institutions in our state. The numbers of original research papers in basic as well as applied medical specialities are not satisfactory when compared to the number of graduates and postgraduates coming out every year from our medical institutions.
The hall mark of Nehru group of institutions is its unquestioned dedication and commitment to the higher education in the country. The glorious forty six years of its meaning full existence and acceptance shows the brilliance and farsightedness possessed by the founder chairman Late Sri P.K Das who was a chartered Engineer and awell-knownPhilanthropist.
I feel honoured to be the principal of P.K. Das Institute of Medical sciences, an institute having a clear cut objective of” moulding true doctor citizens”. The institute is enriched with anenthusiastic group of efficient, dedicated and committed faculty from premier institutions of the country like AIIMS JIPMER and CMC Vellore to name a few.Without hesitation I can say that with in short span of timethis institute will emerge out as one of the top ranked medical schools in the country .I am really impressed by the professionalism shown by the management in the procurement of most advancedmedical instruments and the keen interest and proficient care taken during the construction of state of the art teaching hospital and academic block.Dr.Gopakumaran Kartha K.N.  [MD]
